During this weekend in Mackinaw City over 400 cast members will re-create events that took place between the French, British and Indian tribes, on June 2, 1763. This historically rich event will take place for the 51st consecutive year. The Fort Michilimackinac Pageant is the longest running, free historical Memorial Day performance in the Nation. Visitors will meet famous Indian Chiefs: Miniavavan and Matchekewis of the Ojibwa tribe, and Wawatam who becomes a blood brother to Alexander Henry and later saves his life.

A brief and informal Memorial Day observance at Fort Mackinac Post Cemetery on Mackinac Island, to pay tribute to the soldiers who served at Fort Mackinac. Soldiers will assemble at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Mackinac. They will march to the cemetery, perform a short ceremony and salute, and return to the fort. Open to the public.

Celebrating Mackinac’s lilac collection began in 1949. The idea was to bring people to the Island to enjoy a great horse drawn parade amidst the lovely lilacs that fragrance the Island in June. What began as a one day event called the Mackinac Island Lilac Day has blossomed into a ten day festival.

This year theme is Mackinac Island! A team of judges votes on all parade entries with this theme in mind as well as other criteria for selecting those who will receive the coveted parade trophies.

5 miles from Mackinaw City. This internationally acclaimed event takes place Just 5 miles from Mackinaw City. This well known St. Ignace Car Show was formed in 1975 and the first show was held the last Saturday of June 1976. 134 vehicles were on display that year. The show continued to grow each and every year and by 2004, 2500 collector vehicles were on display with 100,000 spectators observing.

Skippers may choose to race north on Lake Huron from Port Huron, race the 235-mile Shore Line Course up the Michigan coastline or the 290-mile Southampton Course, which directs sailors toward Southampton Ontario, and then to the finish line at Mackinac Island. The race is viewable from Mackinaw City.

The Chicago Yacht Club is proud to have a longstanding tradition of yachting excellence. The Club's most famous event is the Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac, which is the longest annual freshwater sailing race in the world. Boats will pass under the Mackinac Bridge in Mackinaw City heading East. Perfect view from area hotels like Best Western Dockside, Hamilton Inn Select and Clarion Hotels in Mackinaw City.

An American automotive classic, the Corvette, will be celebrated the weekend before Labor Day weekend during the Annual Corvette Crossroads Auto Show.

Beginning Friday, Corvettes of various vintages will begin arriving in the area, cruising and getting registered for Saturday’s festivities. On Saturday, hundreds of Corvettes will be on display at the Mackinaw Crossings Mall parking lot from 10am to 2 pm. A poker walk for show participants will also be offered during the day.

Peoples choice style of judging will determine winners in several different award classes. Winners will be announced at an awards presentation at 3 pm. Saturday’s festivities will culminate with a parade of Corvettes across the Mackinac Bridge, beginning at 7 pm. All Corvettes are welcome and there is a nominal fee for non show registered vettes

Join thousands of pedestrians as they participate in a long standing tradition, the LABOR DAY BRIDGE WALK. This event has been held every year since 1958. The walk begins at 7:00 a.m. on Labor Day and concludes at 11:00 a.m. This is the only day of the year that walking the "Mighty Mac" is allowed.

This year marks the 25th running of one of the most scenic trail events in the state. We have a capacity of 3,000 participants running and walking the inside trails of Mackinac Island during the last open weekend of the season. All who register will enjoy special race features – commemorative medals, race apparel in Great Turtle fashion, special Halloween events for adults and kids!
